Alternatives → ConnectWise

Looking for a ConnectWise alternative?

OriginPSA replaces ConnectWise Manage, Sell, ConnectBooster, and BrightGauge with one platform. Modern stack, transparent per-user pricing, included integrations, no separate licenses to layer on.

Why MSPs evaluate OriginPSA against ConnectWise

We hear the same handful of reasons whenever ConnectWise comes up in a buying conversation. The four that come up most often:

1

One bill instead of four

Most ConnectWise shops run Manage (PSA) + Sell (CRM) + ConnectBooster (billing) + BrightGauge (dashboards) + sometimes Automate (RMM). Each one is licensed separately, by a different ConnectWise BU or partner, with its own data model. OriginPSA bundles those capabilities into one product on one bill — no integration tax, no quarterly true-ups, no four-way support tickets when something breaks.

2

Modern stack, fast UI

ConnectWise Manage's architecture pre-dates iPhones, and the UI feels it. Pages reload, navigation is multiple clicks deep, search is slow on real-world data. OriginPSA is built on a modern web stack — typed APIs, real-time updates, sub-second page loads on production data. Onboarding new staff is days, not months.

3

Transparent pricing without the deal-desk dance

ConnectWise pricing is famously opaque — list prices nowhere, a quote process that requires sales calls and negotiation, and effective rates that vary widely between partners. OriginPSA publishes per-user prices on the website. Three tiers: $29 / $49 / $79 per user per month. No deal-desk, no NDA, no surprise enterprise floor.

4

Customer-funded, not PE-driven

ConnectWise has been owned by Thoma Bravo since 2019 (~$1.5B acquisition). Private-equity ownership is often optimized for renewal economics — your renewal increases tend to come from a board-level revenue target, not your vendor's cost basis. OriginPSA is funded by customer revenue with no exit-pricing pressure. Our published per-user prices apply equally to new and existing customers.

Where ConnectWise is genuinely strong

We don't recommend switching unless one of the reasons above outweighs everything ConnectWise does well. Honest list:

  • Massive partner ecosystem and consulting community — easier to find third-party help if you need it
  • Long history with the largest MSPs — proven at hundreds of staff
  • Deep integration with the rest of the ConnectWise stack (Automate, ScreenConnect)
  • Workflow customization that's harder to replicate quickly

If you're running a 200-person MSP that's already deep in the ConnectWise ecosystem (Automate, ScreenConnect, custom workflow rules built up over years), ripping it out for OriginPSA is a project. We're honest about that — and a parallel-trial evaluation is the cheapest way to find out whether it's the right move.

What migration looks like

The ConnectWise → OriginPSA migration is one of the most common paths the platform is designed for. Standard sequence:

  1. Trial in parallel. Start a 14-day OriginPSA trial alongside live ConnectWise. Real users, real data, no interference with your production system.
  2. Export from ConnectWise. Customers, contacts, tickets, time entries, and invoice history. ConnectWise allows CSV export of most of these; our importer handles the typical column layouts.
  3. Map customers and recreate configurations. Reconcile customer names, set up your billing model, recreate SLA/triage rules in OriginPSA.
  4. Run dual for a billing cycle. One full month-end close in both systems to verify financials reconcile before committing.
  5. Cut over. Disable new-ticket creation in ConnectWise, redirect inbound channels (email, phone, web forms) to OriginPSA, let ConnectWise wind down with the open tickets it owns.

Expected timeline for a 10–50 staff MSP: 4–6 weeks from kickoff to cutover. Onboarding help is included — kickoff call within 3 business days, hands-on import support, workflow configuration, team training, and a 30-day priority response window. No separately quoted services engagement.

Pricing comparison

Apples-to-apples is hard because ConnectWise doesn't publish per-user list pricing — every quote is partner-mediated. Community-reported figures for a fully-stocked stack (Manage + Sell + ConnectBooster + BrightGauge) commonly land north of $100 per user per month at mid-market scale, before implementation services on top, but your effective rate depends on the partner you bought from.

OriginPSA at the equivalent feature set is $49/user/month on Professional, all-inclusive. Cost reductions of 40–60% are commonly reported when shops consolidate off the full ConnectWise stack onto a single platform — no separate vendors to coordinate, no four-way support tickets.
